Enterprise Live Stream Solution

Written by Unleash live | Jun 15, 2023 12:01:09 PM

Picture this. A complex construction site has a long array of activities such as scheduling, logistics, supply chain and estimating taking place, which can all lead to possible disruptions with costs and schedule overrun implications. The site implements Unleash live’s new enterprise-grade live-streaming solution to provide visual oversight for coordination, operational awareness, and safety and security purposes.

The council approves a request to access street cameras adjoining the site to support their efforts to manage traffic, and the team taps into Unleash live’s re-streaming capabilities. The site's operational team now has complete visual oversight, combining CCTV aerial views from drones and bodycam/mobile devices from the team on the ground, all being streamed directly into the Live Stream dashboard.

“Our vision is to be the world's leading video analytics platform. Authoritative in deploying, shaping and innovating autonomous processes.”

Rapid device setup

The road to achieving this vision starts with our rock-solid foundations in live streaming. Our customers have come to expect high-quality, low-latency live streaming with the ability to add new cameras onto the platform in under 2 minutes.

A broad cross-section of industries, from public safety emergency services to smart cities and energy utilities, all provide live cameras (fast) and bring their dispersed experts to field operations.

What are Enterprise-grade live streaming requirements?

Four core tenets exist: 1. Input devices 2. output audience 3. scalability and 4. device management.

A view of device management in Unleash live.

  • Workflows may require a unique mix of UAVs, robots, handheld cameras, networked cameras, or CCTV, all playing their role to provide the clarity to take action.

  • Simplicity for lay personnel by removing the need for encoders and other in-field hardware and cables

  • Flexibility. Provision additional cameras on the fly, as business needs change

  • Manage cameras remotely and instantly. Add, authorize, change, remove.

  • Share with authorized audiences regardless of whether they are a platform member.

  • Simplicity for lay personnel by removing the need for encoders and other in-field hardware and cables.

  • Scale costs as operations grow and the number of camera devices changes.

Unleash live is built for organizations that require capture and distribution of any number of streams to any audience independent of platform, simply share a secure URL and collaborate

How does Unleash live Enterprise streaming differ from existing offerings?

Consumer live streaming offerings focus predominantly on broadcasting (1-to-many, many-to-many) or 1 to 1 interactions.

Mostly, their offerings are limited to smartphones streaming to platforms such as Periscope, YouTube, and Facebook. They deliver a relatively flawless user experience by restricting the range of camera devices and output locations. They also have induced latency of anywhere between 10 to 30 seconds.

Existing Enterprise offerings generally fall into two categories.

  1. Require hardware and software encoders which increase complexity, limit scalability (many cameras), and can be restrictive due to cost.

  2. Limit to sharing just one camera, for example, live streaming the aerial view from a drone to many within the network/platform, requiring all users to have accounts.

Both of these approaches clearly have their drawbacks for enterprise use.

For Enterprise, the power of low latency live streaming video is delivered through consolidating and controlling many to one-to-many streams. With Unleash live, no knowledge of encoding is required. We provide the simplicity of a consumer offering and the flexibility and cost benefits an enterprise seeks.

Low latency and real-time collaboration

Latency requirements in Enterprise are generally tied to the urgency with which action is required or the real-time nature of the communication stream.

Subject matter experts can be in high demand within an organization, with significant costs and danger involved in bringing them to the field. Real-time video collaboration on the live stream allows quality control, contractor work validation, and other visual inspection-based tasks to be validated.

Different technology solutions provide a varying range of latency, and depending upon the industry application, Unleash live adapts to the requirements.

Live isn't always live - Unleash live offers enterprise-quality streaming

Re-stream

Re-streaming enables authorized field personnel to gain access to live video streams that would usually not be available to them, such as closed-circuit TV or other streams typically only visible to a single user.

Unleash live allows the ability to securely tap into these streams and other live stream devices to provide the operational clarity needed to take action.

Re-stream from and to many platforms and devices

Multi-Stream viewing

Devices such as Axis Cameras or Drones stream video exclusively; however, mobile devices can stream and view footage.

Unleash live allows up to 4 concurrent live streams to be presented on one Live Stream page. The mobile app is a Progressive Web App bringing the best of web user experience to the mobile device without limiting its availability through app stores.

Thermal imaging

To date, viewing live thermal imaging has been limited to the individual holding the thermal camera viewfinder. Switch seamlessly between RGB and thermal views to democratize the live thermal video stream across many team members. Unleash live enables any connected thermal camera, including the new DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Thermal, to connect its thermal feed.

Cloud-based storage solution

Not all live stream solutions store your footage. Where a live stream is stored matters. From both a security and functionality perspective. All footage live-streamed or uploaded into Unleash live is SSL encrypted, with server-side encryption and tokenized streaming sessions.

All footage is easily accessed, whether it be a drone, fixed camera, or handheld, as all meta and telemetry data is available for users.

Share your saved media

As all footage is stored within your Unleash live account, it’s quick and easy to share or download clips to team members and external parties without an Unleash live account, allowing for more seamless collaboration.

Why livestream? Who needs it?

Live video is prevalent on work sites and other large infrastructure projects however, it is not commonplace to be used as a collaboration tool. Usually, it is recorded and stored for later reference should an incident or event require follow-up.

Live streams can be utilized in the following ways:

  • Construction site managers or large infrastructure projects requiring visual oversight of assets

  • Security officers and project managers want to keep an eye on what’s happening with visual oversight in real-time

  • Monitoring remote assets and platforms

  • Perform quality control

  • Situational awareness in control centers for incident monitoring

  • Congestion monitoring performing daily/timely comparisons of change

Workflows are changing because of live streaming and AI

Once an organization has adopted live streaming and optimized their workflows to truly utilize the benefits, the natural extension is to seek further cost improvements, increased reliability, and productivity by running AI models on either the live stream or post-processed video to monitor, inspect, and track.

A.I. models are developed to assist experts in extracting key insights from video and imagery without needing a human to view all footage.

Experts can review only the relevant footage where an A.I. model has detected the anomaly of interest.
