We’re thrilled to announce that Unleash live has been awarded a grant from the NSW Government as part of the $1.89 million Natural Hazards Technology Program. This competitive program aims to accelerate technology innovation for managing natural hazards and we’re honored to lead a project focused on Rapid Asset Condition & Damage Assessment.
Our project will deliver real-time insights and intelligence to response agencies during natural hazards, utilizing cutting-edge drone photography, LiDAR and machine learning to analyze large datasets efficiently. Collaborating with key partners including FCNSW, DCCEEW and NPWS, we’re working to transform how assets are monitored and evaluated during critical events.
The Role of Technology in Natural Hazard Management
Natural hazards like bushfires, floods and storms pose immense challenges for response teams. Immediate, accurate information is vital to making informed decisions that protect communities and infrastructure. Our project focuses on providing rapid, actionable insights using advanced AI-powered tools that will enable NSW Government agencies to respond quickly and effectively.
By harnessing drone technology and machine learning, we can streamline data collection and interpretation, allowing agencies to rapidly assess the condition of infrastructure, such as power lines and buildings and make informed decisions in real-time. This approach not only improves operational efficiency but also enhances the safety of response teams by reducing the need for manual inspections in hazardous conditions.
Leveraging AI and Drone Technology for Critical Insights
Our AI-driven platform will analyze the massive amounts of visual data captured during natural hazards, delivering precise, real-time assessments directly to emergency response teams. By using drone photography and LiDAR, we can assess damage, identify risks, and provide key information faster than traditional methods.
The Natural Hazards Technology Program aims to foster collaboration between NSW Government agencies and innovative businesses like Unleash live. By field-testing our technology with end-user agencies, we will continue refining our AI apps to better meet the unique challenges of natural hazard management. This partnership builds on the legacy of the Bushfire Response R&D Mission and seeks to expand technological solutions to a broader range of natural hazards.
Why This Matters for NSW
The 12-month pilot, running from January 2024 to June 2025, will provide crucial insights into how NSW can better prepare for and respond to natural disasters. The collaboration between Unleash live and key government stakeholders ensures that our solutions are field-tested, refined and scalable. This pilot will not only enhance NSW's resilience to natural hazards but also pave the way for broader adoption of AI-driven technology in emergency response.
